Throughout the year students will learn to:
- Understand how different language features can be utilised for different purposes across text types
- Understand how to link and sequence different parts of a text appropriately
- Read texts which have a variety of language and punctuation devices using their advancing knowledge of punctuation and vocabulary to read fluently
- Listen to others’ views on a topic and compare them to their own view
- Read/Listen and comprehend longer texts on different topics which contain different sentence structures and unfamiliar vocabulary
- Create a range of detailed texts which have a succinct meaning
- Proofread and correct their work quite accurately using their knowledge of spelling, grammar, and punctuation
- Present a text in front of a small group using multiple strategies for engagement
Throughout the year students will learn to:
- Recognise the connection between subtraction and addition
- Use different strategies for multiplication
- Use information to find positions on maps
- Count to and from 10,000
- Complete simple addition and subtraction using two strategies
- Continue number patterns using addition and subtraction
- Tell time to the minute
- Students use metric units for length, mass and capacity
- Conduct chance experiments and predict possible results
- Identify symmetry in their surroundings
